Well, I think that's the problem with a communal loose collective, all these musicians passing through a band seems alright at the time when you all have similar ideals, but human nature eventually spoils the broth so to speak, and all the dodgy releases from certain individuals has damaged the credibility of a unique force in rock music. When HW first made themselves known on the scene they were a free spirit, but things change, people change, and in HW some concentrated on having a good time over indulging in drugs, others on free festivals and certain causes, whereas Dave had a 'busker mentality' and knew how to look after himself, he was shrewd enough to realise the bands potential and concentrated on it's direction and business affairs. This doesn't mean he didn't have the same ideals as others, he just realised that a band is a commercial proposition, it has to make money to pay the sum parts, and to invest in future projects, before it embarks on free gigs for all and sundry. However, despite being the driving force and main contributor of the band he relied on the good nature of others to move on gracefully, like some did, Lemmy for example, but other ex members who often found it amusing to poke fun at how his business mind worked, labelling him a 'bread-head', or touring so he could buy a new tractor, saw the opportunity to benefit from his labour. Personally, I don't think that's right?
