Motörhead The sleeve design is by Joe Petagno and he has done many other sleeves for Motörhead (and other bands). Of the Motörhead sleeves, I would favour the earlier ones. In particular the original (above) and these two: Overkill Another Perfect Day I also have a soft spot for this Quo sleeve too, as it takes me back to my teens and was a perfect representation of everything about the band. Here's a few that I like a lot Hawkwind's - Space Ritual Boss Hogg - Drinkin' Lyin' & Letchin - as a teen, for obvious reasons... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Boss_Hog_-_Drinkin%27_etc_album_cover.JPG Einsturzende Neubauten - Halber Mensche - those teeth around the edge still creep me out. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/bc/HalberMenschAlbumCover.jpg Anything by Foetus, though esp 'Nail'. He had a real eye for a catching design. all that situationist stuff was lovely. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b5/Foetus_Nail.jpg Bunnymen - Heaven Up Here, Porcupine, Ocean Rain. There was something epic about the covers of the 2nd,3rd and 4th' albums for me, esp 'Heaven'. I could stare at that for hours, and accompanied by the music, it really took me places. Joy Div - Unknown Pleasures Faust - Faust Tapes (original vinyl) Both of the above have a similar visual vibe for me. I like geometry and the geometric. http://cococubed.asu.edu/images/87a/images/unknown_pleasures.jpg http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?release=223803 The Warlocks - US version of Phoenix (and all the early releases TBH) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_%28The_Warlocks_album%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rise_and_Fall_%28The_Warlocks_album%29 Anything by Broadcast/ Ghostbox. I love pretty much everything I've seen by Julian House http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=JuliAN+House&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=zbq&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=np&prmd=ivnscm&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=4l7aTdmNDIe28QPP_uWDBQ&ved=0CFQQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=677 The Heads - Any of those early - mid period albums and singles had great graphics, esp 'Everybody Knows we Got Nowhere' Mmmm, nice lady. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Everybody-Knows-We-Got-Nowhere/dp/B00004UED2 Oneida - The Wedding and most of the covers since. Again, it's that geometric/illustration/pattern vibe I love. http://www.jagjaguwar.com/press/oneida/jag65.300hires.jpg http://www.jagjaguwar.com/press/oneida/JAG145.jpg http://www.jagjaguwar.com/press/oneida/jag100.300rgb4x4.jpg http://www.jagjaguwar.com/press/oneida/JAG125.jpg And lastly for now, The Incredible String Band - The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter. I like the way their dressed, I like that it's winter, dunno, I just like it. http://www.visitation-rites.com/2009/08/the-incredible-string-band-the-hangmans-beautiful-daughter-1968/

Comus "First Utterance" - It really sums up the gnarly malevolence of the music to me. Uuargh!

Agree about Space Ritual too, although I love all the early Hawkwind covers, speshly In Search of Space. I'm a sucker for foldy bits.

Santana's Lotus, which you mentioned, actually ends up being bigger than my pod when you unfold it all. I might live in it! And I have an album by a psytrance band called Space Tribe which folds into a little pyramid. System of a Down's "Mesmerise" and "Hypnotise" albums can be joined together to make a big bulky double thing. Which is nice.
