A Happy New Year to you all in HH Land... I made a decision for this year to limit my "gig going" somewhat , mainly due to finances and family commitments. So last November I drew up a small list of 4 bands I would see plus a change of festival (I have done Beautiful Days for the last couple of years but it tends to work out pretty expensive as I go solo and have to drive from West Yorkshire so wanted to do something "Northern" this year..) so my list was... Festival -- Bearded Theory in Derbyshire - booked Bands -- New Model Army (later found out they are headlining Bearded so a bonus !) Hawkwind (just announced a gig at Leeds so another one booked !) Fish (although I hear he may not do anything this year due to throat problems) Julian Cope ( never seen live ! , yeah I know , I know , and the chances of seeing him live Ooop North seem to get more remote) So c'mon Fish get your throat sorted and , JC , a Saturday night at somewhere like The Trades Club in Hebden Bridge would do nicely ! Anyone else got a wish list for 2010 ?

Cope tops my list of wanna-see's ('coz I never have & I really want to). I have a second bank account already loaded with "Plant and Page & related" funds. I always have money to see Robert or Jimmy & now Jonsey. Ozric Tentacles...most def I'd love to see Steve Hillage if they promised me at least (1) good solo. I'd really like to see some good comedian that makes me think AND laugh. Devendra Banhart. He's on the verge.

Your'e worrying me a bit about BT there Kid , I went to the initial one dayer a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it however missed the Tornado episode last year as already booked for B..Days. Am I right in thinking you played there last year ? , was it a bad experience from a playing point of view or is there something I should know about/avoid beforehand ? , a bit worried as already parted with me money.

Nope. And of course as we were rumbling home on the Saturday, reports started arriving via texts from friends still there, of the tornado spinning portaloos through the air. It became quite apparent that I'd be seen as a bit of a nasty should I try to pursue my gripe. Written off to experience.

Was going to book Rufus Wainwright by they are FIFTY QUID A TICKET!!!! I'll stay home. Do you know what though - and this may be a seperate thread. Now that I have hit 40, i find gigs hard work. Saw Nick Cave in Birmingam on the Lazurus tour, and felt liked I'd been mugged by the end of it. Went to see Richard Hawley and felt a huge sense of relief when I saw the venue was seated. Used to hate seated venues. But that's not the worst of it. I can't bring myself to admit one of my gig going stories, but it made me realise that maybe this pass time was no longer for me!

Hmmm...so for sure not a good experience for you. TBH I wish I had know before parting with my cash as there is no way after hearing this that I would have done so. I know BT prides itself on being non profit making and any surplus funds go to charity however its completely another thing when they are not paying their dues. I guess I'm comitted now (booked time off work etc) however its certainly put the organisers in a different light. Really sorry to hear about your troubles on that one and hope you don't suffer the same experience again.

Depends what you make of it...I'm 44 and admit that I tend to see the bands with one arm resting against the bar these days. My head wants to get down to the front however my body tells me otherwise !
