As today is the first of December and JC's 12 choices for 2006 are now all in, which of his albums of the month if any has been your favourite? It's been a bumper crop and hard to choose just one but my vote has to be the March AOTM: Orthodox's Gran Poder. Honourable mentions to Harvey Milk Special Wishes and Vincent Black Shadow. Favourite writing was his take on Pentagram. As a rabid fan of theirs I really appreciated someone finally getting it right.

A tricky question but I'll go for Harvey Milk, an excellent choice for clearing out all the shit from your head. The Temple of Bon Matin comp comes second, and Nick Grey third. Nick stands out as being much more chilled than the others.

yeah, it looks like a good 'un - Danskrocksampler was great and I love 60s garage. Can't wait to have a listen over the weekend.

I generally stay away as I'm not interested in the heavy rock thing, but a bit of old garagey stuff does go down nicely.

I've only heard the ones from September onwards as it was firewalled or whatever at my previous job plus a couple I've got on cd. The best for me though was Harvey Milk - it just grew and grew on me. I ordered it during the week anticipating the end of November, and ordered the Courtesy re-release as well. Closely followed by Orthodox. Best surprise was the Nick Grey record - both in terms of sound and writing.

wasn't actually album of the month but Wolfmangler's Dwelling In A Dead Raven is one of my records of the year, as is Grails Black Tar Prophecies, firewall prevents me hearing any of his AOTM but Solar Fire Trio sounded good to me.

Probably the Orthodox from what I've heard. Still need to get a copy though. Mike

Nick Grey easily. His other solo stuff and collaborations are great too, as are the vast majority of the releases from the label Thieves among Thorns came out on.
