Of course I wouldn't know since I didn't grow up in Scotland...

Actually I did like Simple Minds until they REALLY sucked logs. But they weren't as good as the Associates or Josef K, I agree...

I was referring to the phased intro-you're probably referring to the harmonizer, which adds actual harmonies whereas a chorus is a more subtle doubling effect-much over-used by Andy Summers and many others in the '80s.
Anyhow I'm not gonna post on this thread anymore coz it's messin' with my pooter...

Oh well, goodbye!

Yeah, I know what a harmoniser is, although I think it's mostly used for mikes.

Anyways, take care...

Don't get me on about them! No matter how bad you think Simple Minds or Led Zep are, neither are as bad as those wussy Pastels.

How d'you think i feel? After fianlly thinking I was getting somewhere with a friend of mine on how he was wasting his time in the band he was in, ne only goes and joins the Pastels.

Mind, Stephen P does run the coolest record shop in the country.

Was he the same guy who said great thinks about the Swell Maps in Wire magazine a year ago? That was weird. You don't expect someone in a C86-meets-They Might Be Giants-style band to rave about something as out-there as the Maps.

Could be. Monorail is the kind of record shop that anyone here would spend hours in.

>>C86-meets-They Might Be Giants-style band
The TMBG reference confuses me. Especially as the Pastels were on C86 so are exactly what a c86 band sounds like. ;-)

I have to be honest, I'd have thought that liking the Swell Maps was a prerequisite for being in any of the anorak bands.

Y'know a girl I once went out with kicked him down a flight....what?!?!?
*cat-calls and rotten fruit at aqk for attempting to wheel out the same anecdote, yet again*

I said TMBG because of the Pastels' silly or just inconsequential subject matter. Although to be fair the singing wasn't as geeky and annoying, just fey.
