THE PUDDLES - self/titled (self produced) Incredibly cool local
psych/prog kraut/rock quartet featuring Jason Victor (from Steve Wynn
Band) on lead stun guitar, Ely Rabin (Canterbury expert) on bass,
Joey Albanese (from legendary Jersey band Animation) on drums and
Raymond Daniel Medina on Keys. I've known Joey since the late
80's when his old band Animation (Westfield, NJ) blew me away up at
the Jetty in Bloomfield, NJ. We both share a passion for intense and
often obscure psych/prog bands from past and present. I know Jason
from his great guitar playing in the Steve Wynn Band as well as him
being our neighbor on 5th St., so we'd talk from time to time. Ely
has also been visiting our store and often leaves me with a rare live
Canterbury cdr. All truly nice guys with great taste. The Puddles
is their side project and of course, they rule!! No song titles are
listed, so I'll just describe their sound. Mesmerizing, spaced out,
throbbing, hypnotic bass pulse, building into a cosmic krautrock
groove, no vocals, pure dream/rock bliss. I dig the way the bass
throbs, stretching his notes out while providing that inner heartbeat
groove. What makes this so special is the way the rhythm
guitar/bass/drums get that hypnotic slamming groove going while Jason
adds his radiant lead guitar spice on top. Forget about the next
flavor of the month, boys & girls, ladies & gents and check out The
