"I’ll say “I’m only wearing this mask to please other people..every time back..”so am I.”

Well actually, the current scientific consensus is that you should be wearing one to protect other people.

No it's not healthy not to go out but it's less healthy to meet people not wearing masks. Here's an idea, let's give Herefordshire to the No-Maskers, leaving me safe to go out in Worcestershire!

Isn’t ‘scientific consensus’ a contradiction in terms? Double speak!

OK, scientific evidence suggests, to an overwhelming degree, that masks should be worn ...

That's the best we can say and we can't afford anything else as it involves loss of lives.

I've been trying to track down a Tweet that someone posted along the lines of "Imagine being the kind of person who refuses to wear a mask for 20 minutes while in a shop with the knowledge that it might save someone's life".

The man in the supermarket heard the machine say
“Do you wish to continue?”
The man walked home,
.. giving it serious consideration.

On a lighter note.

‘At The Border’

“You must have some means of identifying yourself”
The officious official said.
So I held a mirror to my face,
“Yes, that’s me” I said.

Brian Patten.

With respect G, is it ‘knowledge’ or belief? I think the kind of persons you describe must be few and far between. I mean who would do that with the ‘knowledge’ ? I don’t want to get into any scraps but feel it’s a good point to raise. I may have misunderstood. It’s not clear if you want to praise them or chastise them?

Hello! I'm not after a scrap either! :) Gawd, no.

It's indisputable that covering your nose and mouth will stop many potentially infected droplets passing from person to person in an everyday environment, be it covid, flu or whatever.

It's also a known fact that some people may be asymptomatic carriers of the disease.

With that in mind, the quote that I tried to remember in my previous post is suggesting that anyone who is able to wear a mask that refuses to do so is unnecessarily potentially putting themselves and others at risk.

As some people are especially susceptible to the symptoms of covid, and with upwards of 820,000 people (and counting :( ) worldwide who have died from it, that susceptibility is not worth the gamble.

So my understanding of the quote is: There are those among us who are refusing to wear mass. We're only being asked to wear a mask for the 20 minutes or so that we're in an enclosed, populated space, and that - combined with other precautions, such as social distancing, washing our hands and disinfecting - may be enough to save someone's life by stemming the spread of covid.

And that, to me, doesn't seem unreasonable. :)

Also, to bring the thread back on track, I guess we've all seen this by now:

"is it ‘knowledge’ or belief?"

I have the knowledge not wearing a mask could harm others or I have a belief not wearing a mask will harrm others. Doesn't matter which.

If one has the knowledge it doesn't or a belief it doesn't (it doesn't matter which), one is mistaken and will harm others.
