http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070402/pl_nm/usa_warming_court_dc About freaking time this happened. The world will be a brighter place when this asshole dies. Meanwhile, Harry Reid, the Democratic leader, is threatening to pull funding for the war unless Bush agrees to a deadline for withdrawl from Iraq. "The move is likely to intensify the Democrats' rift with the administration, which already contends Democrats are putting troops at risk by setting deadlines." Talk about your doublespeak... Democrats are PUTTING TROOPS AT RISK for wanting to extricate them from being in the middle of a fookin' civil war that Bush started when he decided to invade and blow whatever law and order existed in Iraq. It's Bush who's put the troops at risk- by being an idiot with delusions of grandeur and starting a conflict he didn't understand or know how to win.

"The move is likely to intensify the Democrats' rift with the administration, which already contends Democrats are putting troops at risk by setting deadlines." Has he forgotten who originally put them there? Selective Memory Deluxe, I'd say!

The scumbag's latest: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070403/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_iraq Democrats are 'irresponsible' for wanting to end this endless fiasco? Motherfucking BUSH was the irresponsible party from day one, starting a shooting war without provocation, based on insanely rosy 'intel' that everything would go without a hitch, the Iraqis would cheer us, democracy would take hold overnight, and all that other happy horshit that was a sack of lies.

...while the Democrats boldly spoke out against this madness and offered a real alternative to the American voting public...

Sadly, yeah, it does. Here's the perspective of one American: I'm not one of those nitwits that believes in the 'good old days', when the government was supposedly uncorrupt, beneficient, etc. It's more like a variable ranging between discreetly corrupt and completely evil. Clinton was discreetly corrupt. The Bush administration is completely evil. On a deeper level, America itself is broken. Some things are better than they used to be (civil rights) but much is mired down. It's coasted for decades on the post-WW2 flush of influence, energy and wealth, but that momentum is gone now and what is left is a complacent populace being picked over by greedheads, betrayed by soulless corporate fuckers who care nothing for anything except short term profits. The elevation of mediocrity, the lowering of standards, the rewarding of greed, the exploitation of fear.... I'm proud of the good things here and ashamed of the rest. And I do think that America and Britain are two of the most diverse and tolerant societies when it comes to the melange of races and creeds. And I do try to remind myself that it could be much worse- I shudder at the thought of what it would be like to be born under radical Islam (shudder)

Quote: "The elevation of mediocrity, the lowering of standards, the rewarding of greed, the exploitation of fear.... " The values of every consumer culture I'm afraid. It's so much easier to relate to the least common denominator than to true ideals.
