A YEAR IN A FIELD

So, Lady Calamity and I were in Cornwall last week - and a local friend suggested we go to Newlyn cinema to check out a new film by filmmaker Christopher Morris. I'm so glad we heeded that tip off.

Here's the blurb:

"Weathering the elements in the centre of a field in West Cornwall is the Longstone, a natural relic that has quietly witnessed 4,000 years of tumultuous history. Morris’ elegiac, meditative, yet profoundly important film is the record of a year in the life of the monolith, beginning on Winter Solstice 2020, as the order of the natural world began unravelling around the globe and the threat of extreme climate change became a reality. Beautifully shot, with a richly layered sound design, the film meditates on the passage of time through its appreciation of nature, highlighting the subtle changes of the seasons, but also the need to act in order to battle man-made changes that will forever change our planet."

Having spent much of our break visiting the stones, it was lovely to see Boscawen-Ros starring in the film.

Yes, thanks. All is cool.

I'm not sure where this film will be showing, but think it only has independent distributors. I'm guessing some film festivals may be showing it?

It's also available to rent for £10 from Curzon Home Cinema. Cheaper and easier than getting to a screening but please have a big/telly or screen for the full enjoyment!

Good to hear on the furtlement side of things. You still up and around Sheffield? That working thing is in the past for me, as far as I can see. A major health issue made me reevaluate things a bit, so I'm smelling the roses now.

Clan Calamity will be off mooching about the Ring Of Kerry in the near future, so some megalithic visits will be slipped in, between the inevitable showers.

I must have missed all that reality of unravelling and extreme change during 2020. And 2021. And since.

The fillum looks to be a pleasant viewing experience. The stone reminds me of Jim and Jem's latest epic.
