Despite having looked at this album sleeve dozens of times down the years, it's only just struck me that the illustration includes rock art. I presume it would be Irish rock art if it's depicting a real site. Anybody know if it does? My guess is it's just a representation of the form. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/77/Vagabonds_of_the_Western_World.jpg |

The bit behind the Newgrange swirls is an actual Pictish symbol stone I think, but I can't remember which one.

I've noticed! Jim Fitzpatrick's no mug & knows a bit about 'Celtic' stuff.... ;o) Looks like it's Newgrange influenced - at least on the horizontally orientated stone(s). Great album, too - especially the title track (imo). Love Moth x

Hello Moff. Yes. Good album. I have a great fondness for the Eric Bell/pre-Vertigo Thin Lizzy, because it is very different from the later sound. Which I also have a greet fondness for! There's a Peel session from 1974 with Gary Moore in the band that bridges the gap beautifully. This reply has nothing to do with Antiquaria - apologies. x PS Hello jane. x

Still with the Thin Lizzy connection... The Lament album cover by Ultravox features the Tursachan at Callanis. But then you knew that...

All I Know is that when I saw Thin Lizzy at Portsmouth Guild Hall early 80’s and Gary Moore at the Milton Keynes Bowl in I think 86, they were awesome, rock art or not, at the time.

He doesn't mention the Newgrange entrance stone mashup but you might appreciate his comments here: https://jimfitzpatrick.com/product/vagabonds-of-the-western-world-album-cover/ Saw them in 1977 in Dublin as a nipper during the Live and Dangerous recordings tour. Kinda blew me away.
