Just had a little play around with this on my phone - am not a natural map reader (though have a friend who is) so my novice question is how do you zoom in on an orange spot if you are not sure what you are looking for. I know where most of the hillforts in my neck of the woods are (Wiltshire/Wessex) but am wondering if there are hillforts in the Yorkshire Dales as am going there in May for a walk about. Any pointers from anyone would be appreciated.

Hope I've read your question right. Try pinch to zoom on the map. Click orange dots for info.

I find changing map from aerial photography to open street map easier to find my way about (click on box of 4 squares at bottom to change)

Many thanks T, very helpful pointers. Will play around with it a bit and perhaps get map reading friend on board. Problem is they are a bit old school and don't own a smart phone :)
