Am Baile – Highland History and Culture website has collections of old unidentified photos from the highlands. They ask for help in placing them. Good fun looking through them to see if I recognise any of the places. These 6 stones photos have got me beat. https://www.ambaile.org.uk/groupitem/422/ Photo 1 and 2 look like the same stone. Photo 4 - I feel I know it but just can't remember were. Photo 5 - a clava cairn? Maybe Aviemore before the houses were built or Cairn Irenan? Some TMA folk must know a few of these?

1 and 2 same stone, the choke and pavement, and it looks very familiar argggh, Photo 5 looks like/could be Culduthel before it was really trashed, Photo 4 might be Tarradale before all of the trees (pity there isn't a photo facing east) The standing stone in 3, looks like its facing the Black Isle, or the Cromarty Firth looking north. Photo 6 looks like a west coast chamber cairn, that will do my head in :-)

Interesting Drew. Like you, I think photo 3 looks Black Isle, Cromarty Firth area. Photos 1 & 2 - looks middle of nowhere but road has a pavement!

4 (with the tree) is Balnaguie. 5 looks like it might be Carn Irenan. Both are Black Isle sites.

photo 4 - yep Balnaguie. Seeing the tree, I remembered your comment tsc once about a chambered cairn in the Black Isle having a tree in it and got it from there :-) https://www.themodernantiquarian.com/post/171764/benbhraggie_wood.html photo 5 - agree with Cairn Irenan. Never been but it does like good. Love this old aerial photo (click on photo to make big) https://www.ambaile.org.uk/search/?searchQuery=HC_ARCH3_1983-84_84021020 Just stuck on photo 3 now

That top one is a near twin, lovely. Irenan is very good. We got chatting to a guy who was working there, he was intrigued that we'd come to see it.
