I have a site that doesn't seem to be easily categorised. The closest I can find is Stone setting. Anyone any ideas what is meant by Stone setting? There's possibly a glossary for these, but I can't find it. Any help appreciated.

I've taken it to mean any collection of three or more standing stones that's not a circle or a row, not sure if that's correct though.

Ok, so something like the cove at Avebury, or at Stanton Drew? Well that rules that out so.

Not sure about those. The Stanton Drew one was probably part of a chambered tomb of some sort. More like the little arrangements on Exmoor or Bodmin Moor perhaps?

There are currently only 14 on TMA (neither of the coves, nor the three stone setting at Llanfechell on Anglesey). https://www.themodernantiquarian.com/browse/site_types/stone_settings.html King Arthur's Hall is nothing like the others either.

Thanks tsc. This classification doesn’t suit the site. The one I’m thinking of is a set of healing stones, like the cursing stones at some Bullaun stones, but the reverse. It’s in a christian graveyard but because of it’s ritual aspect I reckon it pre-dates christianity.

Wow, not sure how you classify that :) I guess the "Christianised site" get out of jail card is available.
