Amongst the furore that is Stonehenge today, the past should also be remembered.....

Anniversary of the Battle of the Beanfield on 1st June 1985

https://libcom.org/history/1985-battle-beanfield

" Those in authority are scared of us coming together- to sing, dance and be merry. They’d much rather us at home watching TV, shopping on a Saturday, roast on a Sunday; eyes closed, ears shut, whilst the whole shit collapses round our ears…

Police dressed in battle gear, it was a shock to the system, Wiltshire news carried a photograph for years in its heading.

Ah, good 'ole Thatcher and her tolerance for 'difference'. That women and her Randian regime is the cause of the political cancer we have to live through these days. We went in 87' and it was still a police harass fest. A sympathetic small holder let many of us camp us on his land to get away from the filth. Beautiful weather though, so still managed to have a good time. And so many skylarks, like you almost never hear these days.
