Hi June, Glad to hear your trip to the Highlands and islands was good. Any photos to show us? Yours in anticipation, TE.

Firstly, apologies for resurrecting this thread rather than starting a new one. Hello Moss, and anyone else - wondered if you could help. Am going to West Wales for a few days, early October - staying near St. David's. Very much want to get back on the megalithic trail - given time will be relatively short, what are the 'must see' monuments/sites in the area. I will have access to a car on this occasion. Any pointers much appreciated. Thanks in advance. J x

https://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/3485/moel_drygarn.html Immediately comes to mind for sheer size and just how the stone of this area was so easy to quarry. And if you want a long walk in this part of Carn Meini there is this. Only one photo by Gladman.... https://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/3920/carn_alw.html Further on there is the Gors Fawr stone circle https://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/114/gors_fawr.html Then of course the most famous Pentre Ifan, https://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/117/pentre_ifan.html In fact there is so much to see and I think you have seen some of the other cromlechs in this area. You need a year to see everything. Not forgetting the walk down from St.Davids to St.Non's chapel. And then St.David's Head, or St.Elvis cromlech outside St.Davids https://www.themodernantiquarian.com/site/3557/st_davids_head.html

St David's Head camp's a must..a great walk there via Coetan Arthur and that view, and that 'snug' hut circle settlement. You can tell people were happy there. This reminds me I still haven't put my Ramsey Island pix and notes up a year on.. the baby seals might still be on the beaches in early Oct if you went, June.

Thanks for getting back to me Moss, I've noted all your links and will read again in more depth over next few day (will going a week on Monday for five days). Might just view Carn Alw from a distance. I have to say you have been an inspiration over the past few years when talking about Pembrokeshire Moss. So much so, I've opted to stay in Solva - will think of you while I'm there. Take care, and kindest regards. June x

Thanks Spencer, will definitely 'do' St David's Head Camp and Coetan Arthur. As I said in my reply to Moss, I will be there for the second week of October - so hopefully will see the baby seals and other wild life. x

Meant to make clear baby seals on Ramsey not mainland. Boat and landing tix from Thousand Islands office in St David's. They also have exclusive landing rights to the other RSPB islands off the Pembroke coast, archaeology unknown.

I'm here in Pembrokeshire. It has blown me away literally. Walked to St David's Head yesterday up to Coetan Arthur. Baby seals down below. Ravens above. Today Carreg Coetan at Newport and the magnificent Pentre Ifan. Thinking of you Moss. tjj x
