This evening I caught the second episode of Julia Bradbury's 'South African Walks' on BBC4 at 9.00pm. In tonight's episode she attempted to walk up Cathedral Mountain in the Drakenburgs. Her female Zulu guide took her to the Drakenburg caves where there are cave paintings by the Sand Bushmen some of which are thought to be up to 4000 years old (though some comparatively recent). The guide said they are totem animal 'stories'.
I was going to post the IPlayer link when I found myself watching the first episode filmed along the Garden Route. This was really interesting; when she reached Pinnicle Point - now a resort with another golf course dominating a place of outstanding natural beauty. Below the golf course, however, is an amazing archaeological site - caves thought to hold the secret of the origins of man. Professor Curtis Marean took her into Cave 13B and ... well, watch for yourself if you haven't already done so.

Apologies in advance if this is 'old news'.
