There is a new documentary about Megalithic Britain & Ireland available now on DVD. You can find out more at www.standingwithstones.com. My name is Michael Bott and the above mentioned DVD is the work of myself and my good friend, Rupert Soskin. I hope you will forgive me posting what is blatantly a plug for our work - especially seeing as I have not contributed here in the past. However, I hope that those of you that get to see the film will find it stimulating enough to post feedback here which Rupert and I would be happy to respond to. In brief: we both have a love for standing stones and all things megalithic. Eight years ago we agreed it would be a great idea if someone made a film about the standing stones of the British Isles that wasn't just about Stonehenge - and why shouldn't that someone be us? I am a film maker of some experience, Rupert has been a leader of expeditions to various ancient sites in the world (most extremely to the jungles of Columbia to visit the Kogi Indans) and we began to develop a proposal for a television series. To cut a long story short - that didn't happen - but about two and a half years ago we decided: Sod It! - we'd do it ourselves. We began filming in November 2006 and finished filming in March last year. The edit was complete in November and just now the first consignment of packaged DVDs has come back from manufacture. and are ready for sale. Essentially, 'Standing with Stones' is Rupert's (he wrote and presents the film) personal journey from Ballowall Barrow in Cornwall, visiting over 100 sites through England, Wales, Ireland, The Isle of Man, and Scotland, finishing at The Tomb of the Eagles on South Ronaldsay, Orkney. It was a journey of a lifetime and we had the best time ever! I could go on (and on!) but I'd just like to say how essential a contribution to the completion of the film that the Modern Antiquarian website, and by extension all those who contribute to it, has been. Out on the road, we'd constantly be seeking information to back up or refute the things we were observing or interpreting and having the book to hand and this resource online was invaluable. Thank you all. Thank you Julian Cope. We are not worthy! P.S. There is to be a special premiere showing of the film at the Chipping Norton Theatre, Oxfordshire on 15th April, 2008 in aid of the Rollrights Trust. Rupert and I will be attending. Booking will begin on 3rd of March from the theatre box office. Ticket will be £10.00

Hi Scubi If you're one of the folk who've been waiting ages for the DVd to be complete - apologies. All the backlog of pre-orders were shipped out yesterday, though. Can't find your email or anything that looks like you in my records - do you have an alter ego out there? Anyway all current orders are in the post so you'll have it imminently.

I stumbled across the trailer on YouTube at the weekend, searching for Avebury druid video clips. I was impressed and it was good to see my local site Stoney Littleton being featured. I placed an order straight away and I've just received the despatch note. Looking forward to it. Matthew
