Have you looked on The Modern Antiquarian website. In fact, if the site isn't listed there why not add it. What's more why not add the photo anyway.

Up t'north ain't my area I'm afraid, but I'm sure someone will help you out.

And Welcome to HH.

Excellent a Geordie standing stone a rare species indeed. Definately post a picture on the TMA website. I don't have any information but I'm in the Beautiful North over Easter en route to Aberdeen so I'll try to check it out aswell.

If its the Hartley just south of Seaton Sluice I can't see anything on Multimap or The 1850 OS at old-maps.co.uk so I don't think its old (could be wrong though!) I've passed there myself a few times and don't remember anything.

There were two chapels their in the 1850's so it might be something from the groups - re-erected.

Than again it might be a modern megalith who knows, I'm not likely to be going that way for a while.

The standing stone seems to have disappeared. I have cycled past this for years. It went a few months ago. I can see it on maps from the late 1800s, and there are plenty of photos on the internet. But now gone. I have emailed the council to see if they can shed any light on its disapperance.

That's not good. It was still there in September 2019 when we were doing the coast path - I didn't approach (tired legs and worsening weather!) but could see it from the road. It would be very bad if it's been removed. It was a bit lean-y - could it have fallen over?
