yes it's a hill walk - a tee-shirt stroll in high summer on a nice day but otherwise a full kit + picnic job.

No circles can be seen here now. OGS Crawford ( http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/images/catalogue/ogs.jpg ) who camped out here in summer 1919 excavated and exposed the two stone circles so they did (or do under the turf) exist. OGS also did a report on the long cairns and the cairn circle (the 'lickle' Bryn Cader Faner) just up the hill. Did you see the ring cairn?

Forgive the geeky archaeo links. They have a full set of Archaeologia Cambrensis in my local library which I like to peruse on rainy days.

Visited the Ffridd Newydd circles last year after Cors Y Goedal, there are still a couple of stones (the largest aprox 1m tall) visible of the southern circle along with traces of earthworks, the smaller northern circle is in worse condition and survives only as a faint earthwork. Unfortunately I went right at the end of the day and arrived at the circles as darkness fell and my shots are poor. If you like great piles of stones the much re-arranged Llecheiddior Cairns are worth the short detour from the path on route.
