On the same day you can go up in a hot air balloon at Stonehenge and take your own aerial pictures. However, that's for anoraks and geeks so numbers at Avebury will be little affected. ;)

A cunning plan is beginning to form, involving an ascent from one megalithic site and a descent into another :-)

I'd forgotten about this.

But by fortuitous coincidence we have that weekend booked off for a trip. So that's sorted!

See you there...

A balloon story; balloon flying is common round Bath and Bristol (they make them there), and so at the weekends the sky has about a dozen rising gracefully out of Bath to land somewhere on the Downs, bumping down and dragging along the ground. But one day as the balloons were over Bath the wind stopped and they all floated down onto the roads and into people's garden. The other thing, "how to take a photo thread" a friend spent a fruitless few months trying to make a kite to fly a camera to take a photo of sites - it did'nt work but has anyone tried it?

KAP is a bit hit and miss until you perfect the technique.
I have been talking with a local couple who have started this,
http://www.aero-web.co.uk/
which seems to get better results.

It looks difficult coordinating your model plane with taking a picture from the camera, I wonder if the camera can stand bumpy landings? expensive if they can't...

the camera is set back into the wing so protected from bumpy landings.
Its surpisingly easy to manouvre!
