...they are burial chambers... and our hunch is that they were pretty old ones, too. Probably 6 or 7,000 years old.

Jane, Really interesting weblog. About the tombs:- >Many have a square cut entrance hole in the 'front' (facing roughly north) giving them a unique character. Anyone know of any examples of this in Britain? (Real entrances cut into a placed slab, not including holes for the rising sun to shine through). Regards, TE.
