loki sez......

I've noticed a recent trend towards the Norse myths, where's that coming from? I detect a swing away from the Goddess (freya forgive me). what about Bride? why this new trend? why the leap of a millenium or two? Are we seekers of native beliefs to be usurped by these recent norse gods just as our ancestors were?
shoot that poisoned arrow!

Nah mate, you don't need to worry.

Odin got his power from the Mother Earth, so it's all OK. :-)

The Ancient Norse stuff is interesting [to me] because:

A/ it's exactly that - ancient - not 14th century or whatever.
B/ it's so chokka-full of cosmic universe-wide vibrations and insights, explanations and theories. They fuckin' KNEW it all.
C/ bits of it will remind you of your favourite Funkadelic lyrics.
D/ the rhythm and poetry of tales such as the Hávamál are shamanic aids in the same spirit as those books listed in the LAMF booklet.
E/ some of it is actually quite funny.
F/ many of the tales are cleverly written to carry 'secret' messages for the initiated, in the same way as the bible or other ancient texts, yet simple enough for those messages to remain intact through mutation of the original stories throughout the ages. Which is pretty far out, when you think about it. Blows my mind every time. Forward Thinking Mofos!
G/ as with many other ancient texts it hints towards previous existences, man's achievements and failures from zillions of years ago, divine intervention and the Great Muse.
H/ They were thorough as fuck.

I've not read much stuff at all, but what I have has been really inspiring. Check out a book called "The Masks of Odin - Wisdom of the Ancient Norse" (Elsa-Brita Titchenell, Theosophic University Press).

Love from Holy. xx

The Norse myths have some of the greatest stories ever told. Sagas of massive, epic even, proportion. The variations that went on to become Icelandic myth and legend are just as amazing. I'm trying to remember the details of three very good books I have at home .... erm ... no can't remember. I will post them tonight (assuming I find the keyboard before the beer fridge!!)
