Off to kintyre end of August. Just looked at Kilmartin OS map, looks a bit of a tough one to work out all sites for a days visit. Looks like you could walk round and bump into lots of stuff but with limited time I could really do with an over view to the whole area. Anyone got any ideas of other publications other than the MA that could help me out? It looks more full on than getting out OS no 173 for the first time. Thanks.

Shrimp & me were up there at the end of last month & most of the sites were still closed off with F&M. Same story (still) a fortnight ago despite everything being back to normal. The OS map will get you many of the sites - depends how detailed you wanna be. Many of them are quite close together. There is a visitor centre there now (which I've never been in) but they'll no doubt be able to help. Mebbe they've a web site (eg via Oban tourist board)?
Enjoy it anyway

The Kilmartin House Museum is at www.kilmartin.org - very helpful staff who can tell you what's open (I went when most were closed due to f&m too!). The museum itself is quite good with an amazing model of the valley showing all the places of interest. Try e-mailing the museum to find out the current situation? And don't miss Kintraw at the north end the valley - it's spectacular.
