Greenfield Massachusetts.
It's a pre-turn of the century industrial/manufacturing town (defunct) in Western Mass, nestled between the Berkshires and a ridge of volcanic rock that runs north-south, and in the V of the Connecticut river and the Green river.
Odd little town, overlooked by tourists, a forgotten exit on the highway between 'hip' Northampton and Brattleboro VT., composed of a weird mix of proles and progressive types.
