Like a lo-fi Beck record this clanging, triumphant piece captured my spirit and took it to another place.

The sleevenotes put it more precisely: "By making their music crude and simplistic, the Peaches' are mocking our own superficiality."

I mean, how often do you hear a plastic recorder on a rock record?

These songs sound like they start when someone slots the tape into a tape recorder, it's good because it don't take shit from no mooks. If it's recorded in a bedroom with a couple of mics, that's how it should be, and if the record looks like a black and white photocopy bootleg, so what?

'Downloading Porn with Davo' starts with a swing and a strutter: "I tried to buy your love, but I came up short. So I f***ed a little waitress, in exchange for a snort," Adam Green and Kimya Dawson sing or shout nonchantly yet proudly and defiantly at the same time - they'd like YOU to be their friends however much CRACK they throw at you.

This is well worth a gander, even if someone slips it you because they thought it was a demo. If you like the raw sounds coming outta New York City: The Strokes, The White Stripes and the like then go brother! Marvellous stuff and long may the abhorrent scene continue!
