these are the only sort of song I really love :) Any genre any singer the soppier the better - Crystal Gayle don't it make my brown eyes blue, Roger Whittaker last farwell, John Denver rocky mountain high, ANYTHING by Dusty Springfield, Frank Sinatra I have been a rover, or one more for my baby, ooo I think I've embarrassed myself enuff but must mention Carpenters Rainy Days and Mondays and Paul Simon I do it for your love.

Nope. In fact, i'd not even heard of it to be honest, moey. The only thing of hers that i have is a (fairly comprehensive) compilation put together by a friend of mine. I can't get over how gorgeous it is. Like a cross between Daniel Johnston and Björk. Been listening to it a lot this past couple of weeks.

"The Bridge" from Time Fades Away by Neil Young. it's an obscure one, but well worth seeking out in the context of this thread. I've never heard any other song which is similtaneously so sexually explicit and so beautiful in its vulnerability. "and love came running down like a river on your skin, and you let me in, oh baby, oh baby. you let me in. The bridge we're building now, it may take a lot of time, and it may be lonely but oh baby, oh baby." it's an After The Goldrush-style piano song sung in Young's most plaintive voice, which is what makes "oh, baby" sound so goosebump-inducingly beautiful and fragile rather than sleazy. Apparently the lyrics are based on a poem of the same name by Hart Crane (who I've never been able to find that or anything else by).
