How does "AMMMusic 1966" fit in with the rest of their oeuvre? It's all I've heard of them, and though I like the idea of the group, the CD didn't enthrall me. Any recommendations as to where to go next?

Well, I'd say go for one of their more meditative (although with AMM that word is a bit misleading) ones. As I said, Newfoundland did the job for me so it might work for you too. It's a much more accessible route in, I think. I reckon both of us gave ourselves a trial by fire with our first exposure to their music: me by getting The Crypt first, and you by hearing AMMMusic first.
I've also got 'From A Strange Place' at home, which I got quite a while ago (I was determined not to give up on them!). It didn't work when I first got it, but now my ears are opened I'm gonna give it another go later this week. Fingers crossed!

Thanks, I'll get "Newfoundland" next time I place an order from Forced Exposure. (They and AllMusic seems to concur with your view on it, by the way.)
