Most of this weeks listening has been as a result of the Houghton book Fried and Justified, which also led onto re-reading Head On/Repossessed just befre the ebook version was launched (pity it wasn't an audiobook version).

Bunnymen - Crocodiles/Heaven/Porcupine/Crystal Days Box/Peel Sessions

This week I learned that apparently there are some early releases of 'Heaven...' that have the 'wrong' mix for several tracks on the A-side, and got recalled (and allegedly destroyed, but looks like they just got shipped out to Europe and oddly, Brazil). Found an old Melody Maker Bunnymen fanzine in my vinyl sleeve that I totally forgot I owned. Nice find.
A bit before I had discovered them, but this 'Shine So Hard' gig at Buxton looked like it would have been ace. Houghton states that they were not on their best form, but they look/sound better than at any point I caught them post 83', so I have no idea how he came to that conclusion. They did a few of these 'day out' events as I recall, sadly never made it to any tho.

Teardrops/Cope - Piano/ Peel sessions Plus/ Zoology/WSYM/Fried/Christ vs
Warhol/...Shag/ Jehovahkill/Autogeddon/20 Mothers
Was enjoying an trawl thru all those early TX efforts. They really could have been a different band soundwise. Nice blog covering the TX songs in linear order. Balfe comments on how thay made Strange House In The Snow on one post. Soz If you're already aware of this. https://explodingteardrops.blogspot.com/

Spiritulaized - Lazer Guided Melodies/Ladies and Gentlemen
Never the biggest fan, my other half mainlined L & G at the time, to the point that I'd leave the room if it was on I got so sick of hearing it. Once a decade is about all I can manage these days.

Other Stuff

White Canyon & the 5th Dimension - Gardeners of the Earth
Nice Black Angels, Liminanas, Darkside vibe to this album. Really like the cover too. https://whitecanyon5thdimension.bandcamp.com/album/gardeners-of-the-earth

Cavern Of Anti Matter - In Fabric
Nice OST in the vein of Microtroics (i.e. short tracks, though there are a few longer stretch outs) https://cavernofanti-matter.bandcamp.com/album/in-fabric-ost

The Holy Family - Go Zero
Zhuel. Latest from band with members of Guapo, Chrome hoof et al. Yep Loved this, tho mostly for that 5 Suns electric piano sound that pops up all over the shop and it's general Magma vibe.

Bowie - I Select
Years old Sunday rag freebie that was supposedly compiled by the man himself. 50p from a charidee store, mostly cos' I'd never heard the Low beauty out take that is 'Some Are'. How the hell this wasn't included on the original album is quite beyond me. https://bowiesongs.wordpress.com/2011/03/04/some-are/

Mamuthones - S/T
Love the first incarnation of these Sardinian groovsters with their tribal ritual vibes and deep psych mentality. Sadly, the most recent effrts are a tad dull and IDM-ish. Coupla 2010 tracks from above...
