Yeah, these last few weeks, all of a sudden it's getting much better (rest is best apparently). Turns out what I thought was a just a sprain, so did nothing about initially is actually (to give it it's proper term) a partial rupture of the medial collateral ligament (the one that runs along the inside of your knee). Been 3 months already, and another 6 to fully repair apparently. Cheated with the hills somewhat though, drove to the top of both (Long Mynd/Cleeve Common) and did a plateau walk on both, though managed 8 and 7 odd miles respectively with little discomfort, so unless I slip or do something stupid, all should remain good!

Fatalist wrote: Th’ Faith Healers – Lido. Ah, the Camden ‘Lurch’ scene of the early pre-grunge and Britpop 90s. It might have only consisted of about five bands, but it left behind some awesome sounds. This is exactly the type of album that people will be falling over themselves to herald as a lost classic in 20 years’ time, being ferociously poised and playfully clever at the same time. You can hear how much they really loved Can, even putting aside the rather nifty cover of ‘Mother Sky’ here… Really, if you don’t know TFH, you need to give this a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZufkC4O6gLU Remember them well, and seem to remember catching them live loads (pretty good as I recall) though personal fav from said scene were Moonshake, I thought 'Eva Luna' by them was just the nuts at the time. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLv39LLwuf1WHgic4Bih5dNjOluU22x6Zj Also had a big softspot for he slightly later Quickspace who I believe was formed by Tom from Th' Faith Healers. Deffo an indie-kraut vibe on the album 'Precious Falling' and the EP around the same time 'Precious Mountain'. Church of The Cosmic Skull - Is Satan Real? A new favourite thing for me being a band that manages to channel bits of Sabbath, Yes, Heep, 10cc, Supertramp (amongst others) in a kind of powerprogpop mashup. Seeing them at the end of the month and very much looking forward to it. Once and Future Band -st. A bit like the above; very much a love letter to both prog and 70's pop and soft rock in a "spot the influences" sort of way. A lot of fun and nice in the sun. (thanks for the tunes Ian B) Julian Cope - Skellington 3/The Skellington Chronicles/World Shut Your Mouth/Droolian/Unruly Imagination Nasdaq - AGM 4th Quarter Slump/ Dead Peasants/Strategic Solutions for Powerful People eps (Manchester instrumental post rock, prog metal trio) Earthling Society - Crooked Under Moonlight EP . Excellent Hibushibire - Freak Out Orgasm/Official Live Bootleg Vol 1 Orbital - Insides Elbow - Asleep in the Back Afro Celt Sound System - (V) Anatomic / The Source. Have a nice week sound sniffers! x

Anyway, great band, also featuring Joe Dilworth, who now drums with Tim Gane in Cavern Of Anti-Matter. Have some Quickspace in the archive, will dig it out one of these days. Ah, Moonshake, another band I missed live, but I particularly liked the Big Good Angel mini album - 'Two Trains' is an amazing track. Laika also did some fantastic stuff.

Only have the one Laika album, (name escapes me at the minute, think it was the last one they did, white cover, cartoony doodle on cover) which is OK, though truth be told, I haven't layed it in years. Think I heard em' on Peel first and didn't make the Quickspace/Faith Healers connection till later. TBH, the only Quickspace album worth your time is Precious Falling. Always found the others to be patchy and fillery. Oh, and the Precious Mountain EP (as mentioned above).

Laika's second album, Sounds Of The Satellites, is IMHO one of the best albums of the 90s... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcollsIir80&list=PLV7uM-8msP4QKiUUpna76ebpNl6h6whkC
