I hadn't heard about Eddie Gale recording much since the days of Ghetto Music etc so was surprised to see this up at the Trader's den, apparently it's an annual event at the church in San Jose.


Also hadn't taken in that Gale was on Sun Ra's Lanquidity I don't think. Also Cecil Taylor's Unit Structures and Larry Young's late 60s Of Love and Peace.

I know that there was some love for at least Ghetto Music here when it was reissued a few years ago. Not heard this recording through yet but first track seems pretty reminiscent of that. The combination of spiritual jazz, folk and something operatic.

Actually when i first saw this listed i was thinking it was the far less interesting to me Eric Gale, so I had to scroll back to investigate after passing it once.
