I always saw Water's cynicism as being a bit disingenuous. After all, he was a serious tyrant in the studio by the accounts I've read, and getting rich off the very system he pisses on in 'Animals' and 'The Wall'. It actually goes back as far as 'Money' on 'Dark Side'...

I admit that much of my dislike of Water's influence in the later Floyd years springs from the way that the sparkling, wonderful psych of their early years got hitched up to Water's increasingly angry and bitter worldview. Talk about a bad trip... perhaps he's commenting on the way the psychedelic revolution soured, but I wonder if he wasn't an active part of that process.
