I wouldn't underrate Venom. They all sucked as musicians but they were HIGHLY influential to the entire extreme metal genre. Not to mention that they're just a sped-up punk as fuck evil version of Motorhead. Not that Motorhead wasn't punk as fuck.

pivotal but shite metal, it's a whole new genre.Venom were the groundbreaking extreme metal band, but they were/are truly dire, and they even lost out in the fast loud stakes to Discharge, who even today sound pretty extreme.
