High points of Western civilisation are Bach and the Ramones. Current favorites are Yo Yo Ma's solo Cello Suites and Angela Hewitt's Goldberg Variations, oh, and Glen Gould's Toccatas and Partitas. Oh, William Byrd is a personal fave, check his keyboard and consort music. Also, Scarlatti' keyboard stuff is awesome. Currently really floating my thing is Arvo Part's Tabula Rasa and a cd by Lorenzo Ghielmi called Tintinnabulum which is organ stuff including Arvo Part's mindblowing Annum Per Annum and a cool version of Byrd's The Bells. Oh, and then there's Biber's Harmonia Artificiosa... ooh, and Messiaen, Thomas Tallis, Stravinsky, Holst, Purcell, errr, there's so much out there and most of it's good shit - just buy some random cds from different periods and see what you like, just don't start with Schonberg or something ;o)
