His greatest gift is being able to make playing quality technique on the guitar seem like child's play, which it certainly ain't. He's made some great tracks in his time (''All Your Love', Crossroads', 'Presence Of The Lord', 'Let It Rain', 'Run' immediately spring to mind) but shedloads of bland shite as well. My own take on him is that it all comes far too easily to him for him to actually try. He ain't got no soul. Like his hero, Robert Johnson, he did a deal with the devil. Unlike his hero, in return he got all the technical ability a man could deal with, but no feeling.

Clapton music...just GOES.

<yawn>

Play any Clapton solo alongside anything by, say, Neil Young, and see what moves you more. With the latter you'll hear bent strings not stretched far enough, bad tuning, wrong notes...but he'll make you cry as well. When did "God" ever make you do that?

Said me piece, now I'm off. x
