I work with someone who's a mate of the CRR, & relates to me many amusing Danny Wylie stories. Apparently, he's old enough that Billy Sloan's praise went to his heed. That would make him around 55 in my estimation.
(For non-Daily Record readers, Billy Sloan is the Richard Littlejohn of Scottish rock journalism. I'd bet hard cash his Desert Island Disc is Mary's Prayer)
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a relaxed attitude towards age in rock (viz: Bruce Gilbert of Wire - same age as my mum, so what?), but Danny Wylie (by the sounds of it) = Smashy.
They're not really a floater for me, but I heard bits of the new stuff, & it's not half bad at all.
