1. ARK ROYAL ON THE CLYDE
Protests are planned at the Ark Royal's visit to Clyde everyday until Thursday this week. Meet at Partick Underground / Safeway car park at 10am
for transport or make your own way to Helensburgh and phone 01436 679194 or0141 423 1222 for more details. If you have a car take the road from
Garelochhead to Arrochar and park in the small parking bay next to the BP fuel depot. People will be there until early evening.

The Ark Royal arrived on the Clyde on Sunday afternoon. It had sailed from Portsmouth to lead the Task Force deployed to the Gulf for a war on Iraq and is expected to dock at Glan Mallan on Loch Long on the Clyde until Thursday or Friday to collect munitions and supplies. Part of that cargo is thought to include munitions that had to be delivered by lorry to Glen Douglas last week after two Scottish train drivers refused to take them by rail. Glen Mallan is the small jetty used for load and unload armaments moving by ship to and from the massive armaments store at Glen Douglas. The jetty lies between Arrochar and the BP oil terminal at Finart on Loch Long. Glen Douglas is a massive armaments depot carved into the side of the
mountain range that separates Loch Lomond and Loch Long.

2. SATURDAY 15th FEBRUARY
It has been confirmed that Prime Minister Tony Blair is due to address the Labour Party Conference at 2pm on Saturday 15th February. The demonstration at the same time outside the SECC is set to be one of the largest anti-war rallies ever seen in Scotland. As well as groups from across Scotland organising transport to attend, anti-war groups from as far away as Manchester are planning to come to Glasgow. Demonstration too big for George Square! Currently we are in negotiations with the police, SECC and Glasgow City Council over arrangements. Because it is looking to be an even bigger protest than the October 19th demonstration which brought the centre of Glasgow to a standstill, George Square is too small to use as an assembly point and we currently looking at switching the assembly point to Glasgow Green. THIS MEANS DETAILS CARRIED IN PREVIOUS PUBLICITY WILL CHANGE. We hope to get new details publicised as soon as possible. If you are coming in a group please let us know, as soon as you can, your
transport arrangements for the 15th so we can publicise them and so we have a better idea of the numbers coming. We also need many more stewards to help with this event - please volunteer
by phoning the CND office on 0141 423 1222.
As was done successfully in October, the Scottish Coalition for Justice Not War have agreed that families with children will lead the march on 15th Feb so please encourage as many families to come along. We are producing cards with doves, peace symbols and 'Not in My Name, Mr Blair!' printed on them for people to sign and tie onto the barriers, fences and signposts around the SECC to leave a clear message at the SECC against the war after the rally finishes. These can be used on street stalls and meetings to build for the demonstration so please make sure you order some from the Scottish CND office. Leaflets and posters for the demonstration are also available from the
Scottish CND offices - you can order them by phone or on-line. (£2.00 / 1000)
