Christianity and Socialism are systems designed and run by the elite to enslave their flock, one has the fear of god controlling them, the other the fear of the state

substitute "used by" for "designed and run by" and I'd probably agree with you.
Socialism goes back a long way further than Marx.

Christianity is fucking shit at controlling people. It has been the catalyst for countless insurrections and revolutions. At its heart it posits that man's first responsibility is to "God" - and to a state very much second. What Islam does now Christianity has been doing for thousands of years. The theological hoops they had to jump through when it first became an imperial religion have been a massive problem ever since.
Love Christianity. As I'm not a believer - God not existing doesn't present a problem. I view it more as a three thousand year old soap opera, packed full of the blackest villains, the noblest goodies and more compromised, morally complex anti-heroes than one could reasonably expect.
Don't think it is capable of causing major changes here any more, far too reasonable. Have to wait a few hundred years until this is an Islamic nation, then the Roundheads can ride again.
Edit: And I do mean 3,000 years old. Christianity is weirdly a thousand years older than Christ, being a marriage between Judaism and Greek Philosophy.
