nice title for the subject. This article highlights one thing that I was not aware of the scale of.

I am well aware of the sugar industries huge expendature on suppressing information about the toxicity and addictiveness of sugar (it is among the most addictive substances known), but I was not aware of the level of EU support for the industry. I did not know that the level of sugar production in Europe was so high and consequently did not know of the vast subsidies and therefor the impact on third world countries.
