As for persuading people of the increasing need for socialism, no-one's saying is going be easy, in fact it's fucking "mission impossible" as a fine fine musician once noted, but as another said "I promise a promise".

We DON'T live in a completely Capitalist system. There ARE many elements of socialism superimposed over it already. The fight is not AGAINST Capitalism, in my opinion (which has certain elements that most of the world DOES agree with, witness China and Russia's mutation away from Communism).

The fight is about ATTENUATING Capitalism. Economics is not a machine, it's an organic system. Allow certain cells to grow unchecked, you get cancer, as it were.

As was said before, utopias are based on an artificial construct of human behavior. Wish as we might that all humanity could reassemble themselves into a perfect, fair and just society, it will never happen. Doesn't mean we give up in despair, it means we work to get as close as can be achieved to a desired reality.

To use another metaphor, it's like the old Newtonian idea of a clockwork universe. Neat and tidy, but since Quantum physics, proven untrue. Chaos is the actual state of things, like it or not.
