hate speech
Feb 08, 2006, 10:23
"The official reaction of British officialdom - precisely nothing! - illustrates how successful we have been over the years in getting them to accept the "Principle of Asymmetry". In other words, we use their sense of "fair play", "multiculturalism", "democratic values", and of course their guilt feelings, against them, so that they restrict their own freedom of action, but are very lax when dealing with the Muslim, for fear of offense or violent reaction. This of course confuses and demoralizes the ordinary person-in-the-street, and weakens their resistance to the onward march of the Ummah."

Anyone know anything about this agitator?

If I could find a link to that info it would be to a Norwegian newspaper, I`m afraid. As I`m living in what you could call "The Bible Belt" of Norway, I keep a little eye on these christian fundamentalists. (They still have a little bit of power left, unfortunately). I knew I`d heard of that twat & his magazine before, looked in my little scrap-book, and there he was; claiming teenagers would be led to "Eternal Damnation" from watching Marilyn Manson videos, and that it was the responsability of the Norwegian authorities to "ban" MTV.
He is now claiming the printing of the infamous cartoons was an attempt to start a debate on free speech. If thats true, he must have wantede to exclude the moslims from the debate from the beginning. I mean; if someone spits in my face, I would hardly take it as an invitation to a serious debate! Free speach does`nt mean we are obligated to print everything printable; it does not exclude the use of common sense.

"Free speach does`nt mean we are obligated to print everything printable; it does not exclude the use of common sense."

That's true too. But legalizing what is and is not 'common sense' or an 'extent' of free speech? ....argh no.

And if it is true that this editor was an inflammatory political opportunist, then 'common sense' is a moot point?

Sorry old bean, I mean, I agree that 'common sense' doesn't (arguably) apply to the editor if he is, as you say, an inflammatory political opportunist.

My meaning of 'moot point' in this instance = an idiom meaning 'it's very debatable if discussing 'common sense' has any point regarding this issue.
