Hi Sanctuary, I would recommend reading the whole thread (if you have the energy!)

How was your trip? And Boleigh?

Hi EV, just mentioned my trip on another thread, but did not get to see Boleigh but did see the fogou at Carn Euny which was breathtaking. I rang the Boleigh folk to apologise for not visiting and will be going again.

I'm sure the other sites visited more than made up for it.
I've never been to Carn Euny while down in Cornwall, but i'll make a note for next time.

Yes make it a 'must see'. The fogou is 65ft long and once through the entrances about 6-6 high. Adjacent to the 'main' entrance is another tunnel which once through opens up into a fantastic stonewalled round chamber about 15ft in diameter. They have put in a 'rooflight' to illuminate it and it has a real WOW factor.
I shot an HD vid of all the places I visited and I think it will run to about 90 mins. When I've edited it I'll copy a few to disc and offer them out just for the postage cost and small cost of the disc itself to anyone who may be interested. Purley amateur stuff though you'll understand.

I would love a copy of that vid being quite the fogou obsessive that I am.

Not a problem T. If you email me your address (see my profile) I'll send you a copy. Do you just want the Carn Euny bit or all of it?

I'd be interested to see it all, I love all those sites but Fogous are up at the top of the list for me somehow. We we're down there around the same time as you by the looks of things. I could quite happily live there someday.

We moved here from Lincoln to Crowlas last july, it only cost us the hire of a van because it was an exchange, it's like another world, the kids have so much more of a better life down here, [ them going bodyboardings a bit different down here than at skegness or mablethorp ], i walked back home from tregeseal the other week and must have visited 40 neolithic, bronze and iron age sites before i got to my front door, the other day i walked to merry maidens and boscawen un [ nuff said ], there's just farms around lincoln, i though i might feel a bit cut off, but i've never felt less so, i was someone for somewhere new all the time [ i've visited 1000's of sites ], but am getting soooo much from visiting the places though the seasons, and hey if you like fogous you're not exactly spoiled for choice are you?

Have you been to Pendeen Vau?
Another weird one. Very friendly farmer there though, lent us his torch!

No not yet, it's top of the list for next time though.
Boleigh, Halliggye, carn Euny, Chysauster are the only ones I've visited, Boleigh and Carn Euny more than the other two which I've only visited once. I've been lucky enough to spend a couple of weeks at Boleigh though and Carn Euny is a very short trip so also a must.
Halliggye was mind blowing!

Pendeen vau blew my mine as much as anywhere in these islands, i say a bit more on my photo of the site, if you have a quick look [ saves me writing it again].

Yes, I loved Halliggye too.
I did Boleigh, Pendeen and Halliggye and am looking forward to seeing the others you mentioned.
Regarding Boleigh, have you read 'Fogou' by Jo May? I think you may enjoy it if you haven't already!

I turned off at Crowless for the campsite I was on last week. The site owner sent me miles out of the way through Ludgavan and Gulval to Noongallas campsite when I could have got there a lot quicker straigh from Penzance!

Yes, I did enjoy that as well as Ian Cookes Mother and Sun, Evelyn Clark's Cornish Fogous is a great little book too if a little more academic in tone.
