Found this BBC dvd in my local library – not megalithic, except in spirit, a delight all the same; it contains all the 30 minute episodes in the series starting from Cape Wrath in Sutherland. Although better known for his love of the Lake District and fell walking guides, Alfred Wainwright also loved the Highlands of Scotland and for over forty years only ever went there for his holidays.

In 1987, at the age of 80 (just four years before he died) Wainwright went back with Eric Robson to visit all of his favourite mountains, including the Black Cuillin on Skye. Very much slower in pace than modern programmes, reflective in tone and completely relaxing to watch.

I loved the series when it was shown.
