Good chance of sun on 21 June
Jun 12, 2002, 20:16
According to the advanced forecast posted up on the BBC weather center site at:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/

there is a good chance of seeing the sunrise on the summer solstice:

Saturday 15th June to Friday 21st June

"Although I do not expect the weather pattern to change dramatically, we should see the emphasis switching to somewhat drier, warmer and brighter weather across southern areas of the country.
Over the west of England and western Wales it will still be quite cloudy early in the weekend with showers.

South-eastern England, the Midlands, East Wales and much of East Anglia will be drier and much warmer, but these higher temperatures could well set off some showers during the afternoon and evening, and a few of them could be heavy and thundery.

The showers will be more scattered across the south and Southeast of England where it may become very warm in any lengthy periods of sunshine, however Southwest England, west and north Wales may still be cloudy and misty with patches of drizzle.

All these southern areas will stay very changeable through the week with sunny spells and showers, though there probably won’t be many showers in eastern England where there will be the best of the sunshine. By midweek more persistent rain is likely in the west and this rain will edge eastwards giving way to sunny spells and showers, these especially in the west.

In the north, that’s Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northwest England low pressure will dominate the scene over the weekend but the pressure should start to rise during the week.
There will be a lot of cloud and outbreaks of rain over the weekend, although eastern Scotland and Northeast England will still have a lot of dry bright weather.

Apart from the far north of Scotland, where there will be little change in the cloudier wetter weather right through the week, most northern parts of the United Kingdom will be drier and brighter with some good spells of sunshine and only a few showers.
But later in the week it will turn wetter again, the rain then giving way to sunny spells and showers by the end of the week with most of the showers over Scotland and Northern Ireland."

So it looks like there could be a good chance of seeing the sunrise this year on June 21st, especialy those of us in Southern areas of Britain. Lets keep our fingers crossed
