Archaeologists in Germany have excavated a 4,600-year-old family group belonging to the Corded Ware culture.
Two parents and two sons who all seem to have died violent deaths at the same time.
Speculation is that they may have been involved in a land dispute over the extremely fertile soils in this area of Saxony-Anhalt.
Analysis of this and other burials in the area seem to show that related and non-related people were laid to rest in precisely defined ways to show kinship.
Tooth analysis also shows that the men married out from their immediate womenfolk.
