stones at Darley Dale, Matlock
Feb 25, 2002, 20:24
Can anybody help?
There is a path that runs from Churchtown near Darley Dale to Northwood also Darley.
It Starts at St Helens church in churchtown (a once important pagan place on the banks of the Derwent, the church is built on the earthwork mound and its 2000 year old Yew tree), as the path gets near Northwood stretching for 75-100 yards are stones 3-4 feet high marking the route, only in groups of 4's and 5's now. I have pictures of these......

Does anyone know what they are about?
Up to now I've been told... an old roman road
and an ancient track if so how ancient..
Any help please
