Here's a couple more local books I can recommend....like you, esteemable Mr.Suave Harv, I lurve regional books. Down my way, like, "The Romance of the Stones" is looked upon as a bit of a coffee table tome....a pretty yet weighty slab. Me aforementioned Ian MacNeil Cooke's tomes are far more learned on the cultural and earth mysteries side of things, whereas for fairly exhaustive and clear archeaological gazeteers of Cornwall's sites, I would recommend Craig Weatherhill's "Cornovia" and its sister volume "Belerion", which concentrates on the Penwith peninsula. Dem cool. Published by Cornwall Books, think currently they're in that strange void of out-of-print-yet-still-in- stock-if-yer-lucky.
Whilst living oop north I found Paul Bennet's "Circles, Standing Stones & Legendary Rocks of West Yorkshire" (Heart of Albion Press) a slender but great read. He had a second one coming out at the time (2002).
For a slightly wider and folkloric Cornish and Welsh contextualisation, check out reprint specialists Llanerch Press' lists:
www.llanerchpress.com/
although guttedly theyve stopped reprinting Borlase's
"Naenia Cornubiae; the Cromlechs and Tumuli of Cornwall".
Hope dese of some help...............
