"On July 5th, 2001, 22:18 - 22:38 BST the full moon will rise at Newgrange and other winter solstice sunrise sites, as if it was the sun of 5000 years ago. The sun can't reach anymore the its location on winter solstice day of 5000 years ago (mainly due to the change in obliquity, which has a periodicy of some 41,000 years). The moon though has a much different trajectory (due to its inclination/angle to the ecliptic). So once in a while the moon rides along the same path as the winter solstice sun of 5000 years ago. And that will happen in 2001 on July 5th. So the moon's path simulates on this very day the sun's path on winter solstice day some 5000 years ago very closely. "
