Actually..

I think I will 'come clean' on this..

There are two or three People on this Forum That dislike Me with a vengeance. My presence here is very unwelcome.

This affected my 'mindset' and I came in hard and defencive even though I never meant to cause trouble.

Steve, I apologize. You were the one that received unnessasery hostility
and you didn't deserve it..

Fair enough, thanks.

How about we start again on a new thread? This one had started to get pretty cramped up at the right hand sideanyway.

Nigel asked me to post a link a sketch that I did showing an alternative method of raising a stone and which shows the idea of using logs to shore up the stone.

I chatted to Mike Pitts at Foamhenge and he said that he thought dropping a stone into a hole, even if it worked, was unlikely to be the method used because it would have crushed the packing stones at the bottom of the hole and that was not observed in the excavations. That evening, the day before the big event, I drew this sketch.

I subsequently scanned the sketch and discarded the paper, so this image is all I have left. Sorry about the relatively poor quality.

I'll try it as an embeded link, but if that doesn't work you'll have to click on this:

On the contrary. I am just reporting facts.

You have a track record. You have admitted that you came looking for trouble. The quotes I used were verbatim.

The additional post you made on the Avebury forum was a day later than the quotes I posted. The "PS" was added later still. Maybe you remembered it was a public forum.

I am not here to "stir it up", merely to report the facts.
