Anyway, I'm in Winchester so really my closest stone circle is Avebury, about 35 miles away. Plenty of IA forts, big ditches and you can't move for tumuli. No proper building stone here in Hants you see.
However, when they re-built the Norman church in Twyford (about 3 miles from here) in the 1870s, underneath the tower they found a circle of 12 "great sarsens". Unfortunately they re-buried them to be used as the foundations and there is nothing to see, I've checked, otherwise I would have posted it up. Pity.
