I used to live in a much older house and found odd bits of glazed pottery in the garden - I displayed them on the end of an exposed sandstone wall and ivy grew amongst it, holding it all together. Looked fab.

I found a dump of old pottery, bottles etc a couple of years ago, down the sides of a coastal cliff high above a shoreline, presumably tipped from the road above at some point and in such a position that soil/ grass couldn't cover it, and waves had't reached it. But I'm not telling you where it was ;) (stuff wasn't that old I don't think... maybe pre-1950)
